Oncofreezing is a project which involves a reimbursement by the mandatory health insurance concerning the collection, freezing and conserving of gametes or gonadal tissue prior to an anticancer treatment or prior to a preventive oophorectomy. This is done in order to safeguard the possibility of procreation of the patients who might want to make use of medically assisted procreation or the re-implantation of gonadal tissue in a later life phase.
For the support of Oncofreezing, a convention is agreed upon between RIZIV-INAMI and the care centres.
