Currently the reimbursement of personalized medicines is not coupled with that of the accompanying biomarker which often leads to a delay in reimbursement of the predictive tests as compared to the personalized medicine. To better align reimbursement of the medicine and the predictive test, a coupled reimbursement procedure[1],[2] will be created that will allow a monthly update of reimbursed personalized medicines and their corresponding predictive test, and as such will be flexible enough to adjust for the rapid evolving field...
Molecular detection is currently a part of clinical oncology diagnostics. The recent grow of advanced molecular technologies enables for a certain number of cases to optimize the treatment by incorporating individual, molecular DNA-characteristics of the tumor and of the patient himself: the so-called ‘Targeted Next-Generation-Sequencing (NGS).
The introduction of NGS in molecular oncology diagnostics requires a profound preparatory phase, both in the field and on policy level. A feasibility study, performed by the Cancer center (WIV-ISP) and the KCE, resulted in a roadbook ‘...
